Jude's back! Bellingham is back

Bellingham's Return to Form Brings Relief to Madrid

The English midfielder has found his scoring touch once again, much to the relief of trophy-chasing Real Madrid.

So, that “crisis” lasted about three months! Jude Bellingham was in big trouble, or so we were told. The player who was never known for being a prolific goalscorer had gone silent in front of goal. It wasn’t until November 9 that Bellingham scored his first goal for Real Madrid this season. Following a poor run of results—one that had little to do with his individual performances—the “overrated” narrative began to take hold. The “one-season wonder” label was quickly tossed around. Jude who?

Explaining Bellingham’s early-season struggles was easy. He was playing further from goal, in a reworked team, with more attacking options. This was never going to lead to consistent scoring. But now, Bellingham is back—though he never really left. He’s scored five goals in his last six games, including four in a row. The efficiency and confidence are there, and his game has regained that vital swagger. Bellingham may not be a 20-goal-a-season striker, but there are glimpses of the dynamic player who first joined Madrid.

With Los Blancos fresh off a crucial Champions League match and injury concerns mounting, Bellingham’s return to form could not have come at a better time. There are many facets to his game, but the goalscoring version has arrived, and Madrid will be all the better for it.

Real Madrid players managed to dominate the 2024 "The Best" awards, with several of the team's players appearing in the ideal XI. However, Barcelona had a relatively weak presence in these awards, reflecting their underwhelming performance in certain positions: The federation held its annual ceremony in the Qatari capital, Doha, with the presence of its president, Gianni Infantino, alongside other personalities. However, the nominated stars were absent from the event due to time constraints and their commitments to various competitions. The winners only appeared through pre-recorded video messages, with the exception of Vinícius Júnior, who was present with Real Madrid in Qatar for the Intercontinental Cup final, as well as his coach, Carlo Ancelotti.
